room revamp.

project #1:
DESK

so, luckily, i work in a world of inspiration and am able to get an overload of ideas on a constant basis.

so far, i have the starts of a new and improved desk that i'm hoping
will not only bring a wonderous GPA, but it will also get those creative juices flowing!

here's a taste for you:

one liners.

one of my new favorite things is this book called
of course it's a brilliant product of chronicle books, and i totally adore it.

found on chronicle books.

i have always tried to be a diary-keeper, though it has never, ever been successful. we're not even talking about slacking off after a couple of months, weeks -- we're talking about days. i've always found it so high-pressure and i hate forcing myself to write, especially when there's pressure to have it be obnoxiously meaningful or something.

SO, this is the perfect book for me. incredibly portable, a great color, and lines that don't take much to fill. while it's not exactly "one line," it is a perfecctly brief amount of space for a witty sentence or two,
or just enough room for me to say that it was a pretty boring day. (which is perfectly okay!)

the book starts on January 1st, so in a perfect world, everyone would pick this book up on the 31st of December and we'd be a wonderfully journaling population. though, in reality -- not so much the case. since i was delayed and didn't get it until after the first of the year, i decided to start it on my 25h birthday, simply 26 days after the start of the year. the coolest part is to think about finishing it on my 30th birthday. so far i've kept it up, which is saying a lot...that's like, 7 weeks or something.

i would strongly recommend it to anyone who has attempted the whole diary thing before. it's amazing what two sentences can tell. and i honestly go throughout my days thinking to myself, "what am i going to write tonight? how will i sum this up?" it's a fun game to play.

maybe tonight i'll write about how i essentially just ate an entire jar of trader joe's sandwich pickles. eek.

times they are a-changin'.

ok. it's official. room cleanse 2010 has begun.
new duvet cover, new shams, new furniture.

so far, i'm incredibly inspired by yellow and grey, which i love.
and with yellow being my most favorite of colors, i'm excited to use it to bring joy and happiness into my room!
plus, after seeing that amazing chair at crate & barrel the other day (see previous post),
i have made the executive decision to add an aqua color into my mix.
fantastic. i'm loving it.

so now, mini-totally-random-insportation-board:

and of course the girls over at j.crew know what they're doing.

updates to follow, of course.

full.

i am a big fan of perspective.
often times life will indeed throw you the occasional curve ball, and we have got to try our best to work it all out.
is life always perfect? no. HELL no. but we will do our best to make it as grand as possible.
and let's be honest -- who wants a half-empty glass anyway?
that just sounds like left-overs.

smile at strangers.

i don't want to become one of those bloggers that simply posts images found on other websites and blogs, but to be perfectly honest, i kind of can't help myself. when i find things i love, i drag them into a file on my desktop that i frequently visit, causing me to smile.

so, now i will share. it is also a good quickie blogging option for a 8-hour-day "part-time" job gal like myself.

this is truly how i feel. and what i try and do every day. i may forget to dress my best as i run out the door to work, but the rest i make sure i do. everything from making eye contact with, greeting and thanking my bus driver to making sure that i am attentive i can be at work and home, and letting my mom know how much i love her, i try my best to live by these rules. i would say that it's a pretty good list to live by.

also, i think that you should listen to a guilty pleasure song on a daily basis.
an instant pick-me-up.

(because of my casual system, i have absolutely no idea where so many of these images come from,
meaning that i can not properly credit the artists. i apologize to all for that.)

wedding.

while cruising around some of my favorite wedding blogs this morning, i found this gorgeous wedding, which (i can't believe i'm saying this) would make me consider getting married in oklahoma.

some bits of Wednesday loveliness:
all found on green wedding shoes.

sundance.

today i met rabbi lee bycel, who is the new man-in-charge at the redford center. the center's mission is to use the arts to improve some of the world's greatest struggles -- including education, health care, social justice.
rabbi bycel visited my social justice class today and i was so incredibly impressed by him. on saturday he leaves for chad to work with refugees for the fifth time in the past ten years. he is going with $100,000 that he has raised -- for the fifth time. amazing.

he travels with the international medical corps, and though he has no medical experience, he helps in anyway necessary, his favorite being getting to play with children while their parents are visiting health clinics and receiving medical care.

i am looking forward to participating in redford center programs in the future. within the next six months, there will be panels and programs in both berkeley and san francisco.

on a less world-changing note [that seems incredibly superficial at this point in a post]:
a result of my sundance website cruising is my new favorite fantasy vacation:

with summer and winter activities, including night skiing and art classes, glorious views and amazing accommodations it seems like a great retreat. and a fantastic cause.

libraries. by far.

after visiting two libraries in three days, i have officially fallen in love all over again. it has been a few months since my last library adventure, and i am so excited to be back in action!
the san francisco public libraries are great. there is a branch about ten blocks away, and it makes it super easy to partake in library festivities.
(mainly browsing the new books section when i feel the urge to click "checkout" on my amazon.com cart.)

amelia earhart day

one of the first biographies i read was one of miss earhart.
a truly inspirational woman, she has inspired more than just ladies in the air.
